An inspiring seminar on “Organic Farming” was hosted at Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir on 17 Dec, 2017. The seminar was conducted in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture, Farmers welfare, Jaivik Krishi Kendra and PGS – India Organic.
Nearly 700 farmers including 15 village Pradhans attended the session.
Various discussions about techniques of organic farming were held at the seminar. Experts like Sri Jagat Singh, Director, National Centre of Organic Farming, Sri Ranveer Singh, Dr. Pankaj Verma, Dr. Krishna Chandra and Sri Sunil Sharma, Chief Kalyanam Karoti, a Charitable Organisation presented various ideas to the farmers. Some of the topics discussed were the harm caused by chemical fertilisers and organic techniques to counteract them, dealing with salinity in the water for irrigation, Biodynamic farming, Rishi agriculture, Panchgavya farming, and Production of biofertiliser were discussed with the farmers. The Farmers expressed their problems and concerns and the experts discussed solutions. Organic seeds were later distributed to the farmers.
On the occasion, Director, The Akshaya Patra Foundation and Vice President, Communication, Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir Sri Bharatarshabha Dasa said that Srila Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON, championed the cause of organic farming and cow protection. He revealed that Srila Prabhupada evisaged sustainable village communities based cow based organic farming. Organisation of the Seminar was a small step on the part of Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir in realising Srila Prabhupada’s vision he said.
Deputy Director of the UP Government’s Vraj Tirth Vikas Parishad, Sri Sailajakant Misra graced the occasion.
