Lord Balarama appeared in the womb of Devaki as her seventh son. She could understand the Lord Vishnu had entered her womb. While she was jubilant about it, she was also anxious that Kamsa would kill Him like he had her six previous children. Krishna ordered His yogamaya potency to transfer Balarama who is actually shesha the multi-hooded serpent on whom Vishnu rests, from the womb of Devaki to Rohini’s womb. Rohini was also one of Vasudeva’s queens but was living in the home of Nanda Maharaja in Gokula out of fear of Kamsa’s atrocities. ISKCON, Founding day – 13 July, 1966

The building was humble, the membership small, yet Srila Prabhupada’s vision encompassed the whole world. Amid the cacophony of a storefront at 26 Second Avenue in New York, Srila Prabhupada had begun teaching the science of Krsna consciousness to a motley congregation drawn from the local community. Then, in his characteristically farseeing way, he founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. We shall call our society ISKCON “We shall call our society ‘ISKCON.’” Prabhupada laughed playfully when he first coined the acronym. He had initiated the legal work of incorporation that spring, while still living on the Bowery. But even before its legal beginning, Prabhupada had been talking about his…

Being desirous of experiencing the highest of sentiments that Srimati Radharani feels for Lord Sri Krishna, Lord Sri Krishna took the form of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. To assist Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in His lila, Srimati Radharani appeared in the form of Sri Gadadhara pandita. However, in Gaur Lila, Sri Gadadhara pandita never showed his identity as Srimati Radhika but rather always acted as a servant of Gaurahari, as that was…
