Nityananda Jayanti is the most auspicious appearance day of Lord Nityananda. Lord Nityananda appeared in the year 1473 in West Bengal. He is Lord Balarama who appeared along with Lord Chaitanya who is Lord Krishna Himself for the propagation of the Sankirtana Movement. Srimad Bhagavatam, the foremost of Vedic Literature states that all activities of the human being culminate in ultimate success only if they satisfy the Supreme Lord. It is also stated there that in this age called Kali Yuga, for satisfying the Supreme Lord, the most intelligent people will engage in Sankirtana Yajna or the congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra –
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare
Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir celebrated Nityananda Jayanti at the community hall of the Asian Games Village, near Sirifort Auditorium in New Delhi. The programme began with Hare Krishna Kirtan by devotees at around 5:30 pm in the evening of 20th February 2016. The momentum picked up as donors, devotees and friends streamed in. Soon the venue was reverberating with ecstatic singing of the Hare Krishna mantra by all the attendees.
At 6:30 pm bathing ceremony or Abhishekam of two sets of brass Deities of Lord Chaitanya and Lord Nityananda was performed. The atmosphere was rent with chanting of Mantras and Sankirtana while the Deities were bathed with milk, yogurt, honey and many varieties of ingredients in a grant ceremonial offering to the Deities.
