Kashi and Ayodhya
Ayodhya is one of the spiritual capitals in the world. This is the place where Lord Rama made His advent and hence, holds great spiritual significance among the followers of Vedic traditions. This holy city is situated in Uttar Pradesh. Ayodhya used to be called Saketa in ancient times and was the capital city of the Kosala Kingdom. With Ayodhya being the city Lord Rama's advent, it has been considered one of the most important tourist destinations for people around the world.
Along with Ayodhya, Varanasi is another important place of pilgrimage. Varanasi is also popularly known as Kashi and it is the abode of Lord Shiva or Vishwanatha. This holy city lies on the banks of River Ganga. Kashi is one of the holiest of places and has been referred to in various ancient scriptures like Mahabharata, Skanda Purana, Srimada Bhagavatam and many others.
